Biological Age Vs. Chronological Age

5/6/2025

According to cardiovascular researcher Dr. Eric Topol, MD, medical professionals are now able to calculate a person’s epigenetic clock, which measures biological age as opposed to chronological age based on one’s date of birth. Dr. Topol states that nothing reduces the epigenetic clock more effectively than regular exercise. He recommends at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise—such as running, walking, swimming, cycling, or using an elliptical machine--along with resistance training to maintain strength at least five days per week.

He emphasizes that the combination of consistent aerobic activity and strength training is scientifically proven to be the most effective way to reduce biological age. I strongly encourage everyone to follow Dr. Topol’s medical advice and adopt a routine of regular cardiovascular exercise and strength training.
